Horses have always been a passion of mine. Always wanted a real horse growing up, but settled for the Model Horses as a replacement. I started getting the models when I was about 10 years old. At that time a friend and I just played with them. Build ranchs out of whatever we could find. We named the models and always had our favorites that no one else could play with. We did this till about age 14 then we just named them and made up ancestories for them, useing real horses names. Wasn't till about age 19 that I found a whole new world of model horses and that was: The Model Horse Live Shows I never imaginged what this could be like. And the whole world of Collecting, Showing and keeping the models in mint condition. I soon found out what it was all about. My first live show, I came home with one horse becomming a Champion in two divisions and Overall Reserve Champion. Ok let me explain alittle about the model horse shows. People, and not just girls as you may think, but entire familys drive like 4 to 8 hundred miles to attend some Horse shows. Ones that they go to every year. Then there are some that fly to some that are a few thousand miles away. Those shows are some that are put on by the Companys that manufacter the models. And take 3 days to do. As there are alot of special events as well as the show. It's simple really, you wipe of the dust from your models, carefully wrap and put in to plastic totes and begin the journey to the show. Once there, you find your table and start setting out your show horses. Most will have some tablecloth to put down first. Once you are set up you can spen time looking at others models and even find some that people have for sale. I had purchased a few this way. Then the show begins. The annoucer will say what class is up for each division and you just take your model to the assigned table and place on the table. Of course a last minute check for dust is needed . A judge will look at the models for the best that fills the Breed , conformation and if the color fits within the Real Horse Breed Accepted Colors. Also the condition of the model. Place ribbons are given and any 1st and 2nd will be called back for a Championship Judge off with all models that placed 1st or 2nd in the other breed classes. This pretty much takes up the whole day about 8 to 10 hours. Ok enough talkin, pictures below are some of my collection. I will change them from time to time as I have over 100 of them. ![]() |
